Gulf Coast Violinist/Fiddler Tom Morley
Greetings and welcome to The Fiddle Center. I’m your host, Fiddler/Violinist Tom Morley. I’m a classically-trained violinist with a degree in music education, but I’ve earned a living with my violin in almost every conceivable musical direction. I’ve played professionally on stage and in the recording studio in Celtic, Cajun, country, folk, classical, swing and jazz styles. As an educator, I’ve taught in public schools and universities, given private lessons, group lessons, fiddle workshops, Irish Traditional Music slow sessions, ‘informances’ and lectures on the history of Irish and American fiddling. Over the last decade I’ve focused on the rich repertoire of Irish fiddle music and its related American and Old-Time offspring. I hope to share my enjoyment of it here and make this site a fresh resource for everyone who plays fiddle at any level, from beginner to advanced.
The Fiddle Center is not just for fiddlers and violinists, however. I’m available to give workshops, lectures, ‘informances’ and performances, as a solo violinist or as a member of my various performing groups.
The latest news here at The Fiddle Center is the release of my new solo fiddle CD, The Raven’s Wing (a curious collection of fiddle tunes). It includes fiddle tunes from many of the genres I’ve enjoyed playing over the years, and features a number of great guest musicians.
